Amdocs, announced that it has completed the acquisition of Bridgewater Systems Corporation, provider of policy management and network control solutions. The transaction is valued at approximately CAD$211 million, or CAD$139 million net of Bridgewater’s cash as of June 30, 2011. Read more.
Vector Capital and Motorola Solutions announced that they have reached an agreement under which Vector Capital will acquire Motorola Solutions’ Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint Wireless Broadband Networks businesses for an undisclosed amount. Skype announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire GroupMe, a provider of mobile group messaging services. GroupMe was founded in 2010 at the Techcrunch Disrupt Hackathon and is headquartered in New York, New York. Terms of the acquisition will not be disclosed. Read more.
Telecom billionaire Carlos Slim, owner of America Movil has increased in his stake in the New York Times. It is being reported that Slim’s investment fund bought 450,000 Times Co. shares increasing his stake in the company to 7.5%.
Cisco announced its intent to acquire service fulfillment software assets and associated employees from the UK subsidiary (formerly Axiom Systems) of parent company Comptel Corporation. The acquisition will enable Cisco to extend network and service management technologies across its next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) network platforms. Read more.
Druva, enterprise laptop backup and retrieval, announced that it has received $12 million in a Series B round of funding. The round was led by Nexus Venture Partners, and existing investor Sequoia Capital also contributed to the round. Druva’s Enterprise inSync software includes support for smartphones and tablets. The funding will be used to expand both the product offering and sales and marketing in North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific.
