OnMobile launches new services in Morocco, Angola

Bangalore-based OnMobile Global Ltd., one of India’s largest value-added services companies, has launched its KaraoPhone application with Jet Multimedia Morocco, a leading provider in all-in-one products and services for all media in Morocco.

The service was launched in conjunction with the 2M Studio television reality show. The company said that another leading operator in Mali will also soon deploy KaraoPhone on their entertainment voice portal.

“Irrespective of the handset, a subscriber can call OnMobile’s KaraoPhone service, select a song, sing along, and get a score and a rank, enabling comparison with other players. Furthermore, the score obtained can be shared through social networks, thereby, making way for a large number of people to participate simultaneously,” the company said.

According to OnMobile, “the KaraoPhone service ranks scores through detailed subscores, provides performance feedback and also allows subscribers to listen to the recording of their songs. OnMobile’s innovative language agnostic audio recognition makes this service easy to deploy in any language across the world.”

OnMobile co-founder and CEO Arvind Rao said: “Africa is a high-growth value-added services market and we are happy to extend our offerings to mobile subscribers in Morocco. The amalgamation of the popularity of karaoke in Morocco coupled with our revolutionary music products should result in high market penetration and revenues. Also, our success in operating in the emerging markets for more than a decade will help us provide a more enriching mobile experience to compliment Jet Multimedia’s entertainment portfolio.”

The company recently said that it has entered into an agreement with Unitel SA, Angola’s largest mobile operator, to launch Ring Back Tones (RBT) for Unitel’s subscribers in Africa. In its first 90 days, the service increased drastically to a penetration rate of 8%.

The RBT platform for Unitel allows users to set a song to replace the standard tone that is usually heard by callers while they wait for their call to be answered.
