Wilson Electronics is betting that consumers willing to pay for LTE will be willing to spend another $150 to ensure a strong signal. The company is calling its Sleek 4G-V the world’s first 4G mobile signal booster.
The Sleek 4G-V promises users of Verizon’s 4G-LTE service fewer drops and dead zones, and faster data transfer. Wilson says it boosts all LTE, 3G and 2G cellular signals on 700 MHz, 800 MHz and 1900 MHz frequency bands. It is designed to be used in cars or trucks and is compatible with Bluetooth technology. In order to use the Sleek 4G-V indoors, users will need to buy an accessory pack.
The “Sleek” name is a reference to the device’s size and shape; it weighs 3 ounces and measures 2.5 by 4.5 by 2.5 inches. The product will be on display at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and will be on sale by the second half of the year.
