Global Tower Partners adds more railroad rights of way

Global Tower Partners (GTP) says it now has the nation’s largest aggregation of railroad rights of way available for tower development and leasing. Today the company announced that it has partnered with Regional Rail LLC, OmniTRAX, Patriot Rail Corp., and Morristown & Erie Railway Inc. over the last several months to gain access to an additional 3,150 miles of operating railroad rights of way in 23 states. This brings GTP’s total managed rights of way to more than 25,000 route miles.

“We are very excited to continue to grow our railroad property portfolio across the United States as another means of strengthening the wireless access and network quality available to our carriers,” said Robert G. Raville, GTP’s Vice President of Railroad Development. GTP started its Railroad Development Division last year, after acquiring the wireless assets, income and attachments built on Norfolk Southern property from CitySwitch, LLC, including CitySwitch’s tower development and marketing agreements with Norfolk Southern Corporation.

GTP owns, manages, or master leases more than 15,000 wireless sites to customers including AT&T, Sprint-Nextel, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile USA, Leap Wireless, Clearwire, US Cellular, Metro PCS, Claro and Telefonica.
