The iPad is still the number one tablet with consumers surveyed by JD Power and Associates, and Time Warner Cable is bringing free citywide Wi-Fi to Austin, Texas.

- Time Warner Cable says it has been deploying citywide Wi-Fi hotspots for some time, but the company says it was motivated to deploy more aggressively when Google announced that Google Fiber is coming to Austin. Time Warner says its customers will need to download an app from Google Play or the Apple app store to use its free Wi-Fi.
- In other news, the iPad held onto its number one spot with consumers, according to JD Power and Associates. The research firm’s Tablet Satisfaction Survey asked 1,857 tablet users to rate their devices on performance, ease of use, features and cost. The iPad narrowly beat the Kindle Fire. Samsung tablets took third place.
