Google Wallet is coming to three new smartphones, and to Gmail. The search engine giant says it will be rolling out Gmail payments over the next few months, and that the service will be free to users who link their bank accounts to Google Wallet. (Others can link it to a credit/debit card and pay a fee.)
Today’s Mobile Minute:
Google Wallet is coming to three new smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy S4, the HTC One on Sprint, and the Samsung Galaxy Note II on Sprint and U.S. Cellular. Google Wallet is Google’s mobile payments technology for shopping online and in stores. If you find a store through paid search on Google and then use your phone to buy something there, Google can prove to the merchant that paid search works.
Yesterday Google also said that it’s adding the ability to make payments through Gmail, and launching an “instant buy API” for app developers selling physical goods through their apps. Google says “instant buy API” is for developers who already have a payment processor and are looking to simplify the checkout experience.
