Telecom services company Goodman Networks closed on its $102.4 million purchase of Multiband, and is in the process of another acquisition that marks its third deal this year.
The company has made growth through acquisition a part of its strategy, and announced last month that it is buying the assets and workforce of Design Build Technologies (DBT), which builds and maintains communications towers in the Southeastern United States.
“We are in the midst of an exciting time where network operators–fueled by consumer demand for connectivity and bandwidth–are focused on making 4G services ubiquitous in the markets they serve,” said Ron Hill, Goodman’s president and CEO, when the DBT purchase was announced. “In order to continue to serve as the trusted strategic partner to today’s top service providers, we must do everything we can to ensure we have the skills and available resources necessary to fulfill our customer commitments. The addition of the DBT assets represents a powerful complement to our existing capabilities and enhances our ability to serve our customers in today’s dynamic telecommunications environment.”
Goodman provides wireless network design, engineering, construction, deployment, integration and maintenance services for carriers. The Multiband purchase provides the company with some customer diversification, as it is a major partner for installation, maintenance and upgrades for DirecTV and has had a relationship with that company for a dozen years.
Multiband will be operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Goodman Networks, with Multiband’s more than 3,000 employees remaining under the leadership of James Mandel, Multiband’s CEO, who will report directly to Ron Hill, Goodman Networks’ president and CEO.
This year has been a busy one for Goodman Networks’ acquisitions. In February, Goodman acquired the services division of Cellular Specialties, which specializes in small cell and distributed antenna system deployments. In May, it announced that the plan to acquire Multiband. Now the DBT purchase is underway to bolster its position in the Southeast.
