Sprint is majority-owned by Japan’s Softbank and Germany’s Deutsche Telekom owns T-Mobile US. Those two companies are reportedly in talks about merging the #3 and #4 carriers in the United States. The Justice Department blocked AT&T’s attempt to buy T-Mobile US in 2011. At that time officials said that T-Mobile’s presence as an independent entity could keep prices lower for consumers. |
