iOS users are now downloading more Google apps than iOS apps, according to the researchers at App Annie. The firm has released its top ten lists for January, and the iOS list shows that iPhone and iPad users downloaded apps like Google Maps and Google Search more than they downloaded iOS apps. Also beating out Apple was Tencent, a messaging app similar to WhatsApp or BBM.
In the Android world, Facebook had the most downloads again this month, followed by Google’s apps, and then by Sungy Mobile — Sungy Mobile makes apps for customizing the homescreen. WhatsApp is far more popular on Android than iOS. It ranked in fourth place here, while it did not even make the top ten for iOS.
WhatsApp agreed last week to become part of Facebook in a $19 billion dollar deal.
