This week, Qualcomm announced a new president and CW Solutions added a property acquisitions specialist to its staff. Additionally, Samsung welcomed a new vice president of marketing and Softbank Inc. appointed an executive vice president of legal and regulatory affairs.

Derek Aberle joins Qualcomm
Qualcomm Incorporated announced the addition of Derek Aberle as the company's new president. Aberle was promoted from within, previously serving as the group's executive vice president. Within his new role, Aberle will supervise all business divisions, as well as the global market development and marketing teams. He will also carry on his responsibilities associated with establishing diversification strategies to expand the company's service footprint. Before being employed as the vice president, Aberle also worked in Qualcomm's technology licensing division and also representative the organization as an outside counsel for a number of years.

"Under his leadership, Qualcomm Technology Licensing has more than doubled its revenues and profits, completed key license agreement extensions, successfully defended challenges to our business model and established Qualcomm's 4G licensing program," said Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf.

Jennifer White appointed to CW Solutions
Toward the beginning of the month, CW Solutions welcomed Jennifer White as the group's new property acquisition specialist. White will be responsible for providing resources and expertise for infrastructure development projects and guiding acquisition activities for the company's utilities. In her new role, White will identify new sites and negotiate for land acquisitions, land rights, licenses and leases. She will also oversee right of entry agreements for construction, operation, maintenance and other initiatives. White will utilize her previous real estate experience, as well as skills in market data analysis. Currently, the organization is working on a number of infrastructure projects, including efforts for Verizon Wireless, PECO and Public Service Electric & Gas.

Vince Hudson named Samsung's vice president of marketing
Samsung Telecommunications America recently appointed Vince Hudson as the vice president of marketing strategy and operations. Hudson will manage product launches and overall marketing operations for Samsung Mobile within the U.S. His new role will be aimed at enhancing customer connections with Samsung offerings and improving the end user experience. Hudson has considerable experience in global marketing and operations, previously serving as vice president of Procter and Gamble.

Bruce Gottlieb welcomed by SoftBank
SoftBank Corp. announced on March 11 that Bruce Gottlieb will serve as executive vice president for legal and regulatory affairs for U.S. subsidiary SoftBank Inc. Gottlieb will work under Ron Fisher, SoftBank Holdings Inc. president, out of Washington D.C.

"Last year, we made the largest ever foreign investment by a Japanese company in the United States and we expect Bruce will play a key role in helping us manage the investments we have made in the U.S. mobile Internet industry," Fisher said.

Previously, he worked for a number of regulatory and private agencies and boasts experience in business management, legal and technology. Before joining SoftBank, Gottlieb was employed as president at the National Journal and general counsel and senior vice president of Atlantic Media. He also worked at the Federal Communications Commission as chief counsel under the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team in 2008.

Bill Farwell joins TNCI
TNCI recently named Bill Farwell as its new chief financial officer to manage the organization's financial affairs and deploy new processes to boost company value. Farwell will also work to increase TNCI's profitable partnerships, acquisitions and overall opportunities.
