We are at the CCCA Global Expo in San Antonio today and the biggest news here comes from Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son. Softbank of course is in the process of buying a majority stake in Sprint, and Son says Sprint wants to partner with regional carriers. He said that combining Sprint’s presence in large markets with the smaller carriers’ coverage in between makes sense, and he even talked about using SOftbank’s deep pockets to offer financial assistance to the smaller carriers. Son also said that Sprint stands ready to help smaller carriers with spectrum and with roaming agrements.
