Allot Communications reported non-GAAP revenue growth of 31.1% for the second quarter, earning revenues of $28.2 million compared to $21.5 million in the year-ago quarter. The company said the growth was driven by large orders from mobile service providers.
GAAP results were similar, with Allot reporting $28.2 million in GAAP revenue compared to $21.2 million for the second quarter of 2013.
Net loss for the quarter on a GAAP basis was $0.6 million, a significant improvement from the $3.9 million loss that Allot reported in the same period last year.
Allot said that it received 18 larger orders during the second quarter, and three of those were new customers. Of the 18 orders, a dozen came from mobile service providers and three were from fixed-line providers; the company also received three large orders for public and private cloud deployments. More than $10 million of its bookings during the quarter were based on its new Service Gateway Tera platform, and Allot added that it also won a $3 million contract with a tier-one cable company for big data analytics and intelligent traffic management to address access network congestion.

He added that the company “[continues] to identify interesting opportunities with service providers that choose more comprehensive solution than in the past. We see an increasing demand for advanced services and sense a shift towards application-centric data plans offering.”
Allot’s report on mobile charging trends released in July reflected the app-centric approach that Elefant mentioned, finding that operators which offered app-centric plans had a higher average revenue per user and lower average churn rate than those which did not.
