Ericsson, HP, Huawei, OpenCloud and Oracle ranked
According to a new report from Infonetics Research, Ericsson was judged the top pick just ahead of Oracle, based on what the research firm claimed were data-driven metrics, including “direct feedback from service providers, market share data and publicly available financial data.” The rankings included a look at the five largest global SDP vendors: Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Huawei, OpenCloud and Oracle.
“Based on completely quantitative metrics, including financial information, product capabilities and service provider feedback, we named Ericsson the top vendor in the service delivery platform software market, with Oracle following close behind,” says Shira Levine, directing analyst for service enablement and subscriber intelligence at Infonetics Research.
Levine noted that Ericsson “scored particularly well on service and support and product reliability,” while Oracle received high marks for “financial stability and solution breadth” as well as its focus on enterprise applications and the machine-to-machine market.
“Both companies, however, scored below average when it came to pricing,” Levine added.
Of the other contenders, Infonetics lauded OpenCloud for remaining competitive against its much larger rivals thanks to a focus on technology innovation and pricing. Huawei was also commended for its pricing structure.
Ericsson — along with Huawei — were cited earlier this year by Infonetics as leaders for their software policy management solutions, while Maravedis-Rethink noted that Ericsson’s recent restructuring announcement would see the equipment vendor increase its focus on software development.
