With an eye on increasing customer retention, Spanish-based global telecommunications services provider Telefónica Global Technologies announced a deal with Hewlett-Packard to upgrade the company’s global telco cloud systems.
The partnership calls for HP to equip the mobile broadband and telecom operator, which operates in Europe, Asia and the Americas, with security, reliability and update flexibility via software systems SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP modules that manage warehouse, process integration, supplier relationship management, revenue management and contract accounting nodes.
Telefónica CEO Juan Pedro Gravel said the upgrade “is the most important and most strategic project for TGT in 2014.”
Scalability is important as Telefónica has more than 315 million customers using mobile, fixed and broadband networks in 24 countries. The company has branded itself as a “digital telco.”
The HP solutions is set to be deployed from Madrid then around the globe through the telco cloud.
“TGT was looking for a partner with technical quality and the flexibility to adapt to continuous changes,” HP applications and consulting manager Paco Armesto said. “HP’s experience will enable TGT to manage the increasing complexity of its applications and improve service availability.”
