One of the toughest environments for cellular connectivity continues to be jam-packed sports venues where fans are increasingly looking to share their experience with those at the end of their social media channels.
Wefi recently released a report showing the fastest measured speeds across both Wi-Fi and cellular data networks at more than 45 million hot spots and 1,665 devices at NBA arenas and 886 devices at NFL stadiums through fans using Wefi’s Pro application. Wefi said it tracked a 30-day average this past October of Wi-Fi and cellular speeds for each location.
Top 3 NBA arenas with the fastest Wi-Fi:
1. Brooklyn Nets: Barclays Center (5.09 megabits per second)
2. Washington Wizards: Verizon Center (4.73 Mbps)
3. L.A. Lakers: Staples Center (4.18 Mbps)
Top 3 NBA arenas with the fastest cellular speeds:
1. Brooklyn Nets: Barclays Center (3.66 Mbps)
2. Washington Wizards: Verizon Center (2.84 Mbps)
3. New York Knicks: Madison Square Garden (2.72 Mbps)
Top 3 NFL stadiums with the fastest Wi-Fi:
1. San Francisco 49ers: Levi’s Stadium (4.68 Mbps)
2. Denver Broncos: Sports Authority Field at Mile High (3.31 Mbps)
3. New Orleans Saints: Mercedes-Benz Superdome (3.27 Mbps)
Top 3 NFL stadiums with the fastest cellular speeds:
1. Seattle Seahawks: CenturyLink Field (2.90 Mbps)
2. San Francisco 49ers: Levi’s Stadium (2.74 Mbps)
3. Green Bay Packers: Lambeau Field (2.32 Mbps)
Wefi also ranked the most utilized applications based on average screen time per user at the same locations.
