Self-organizing network capabilities for hetnet deployments
In order to provide multivendor coordination, AirHop Communications unveiled its eSON software, which brings self-organizing network capability to heterogeneous network deployments.
The new architecture is designed to allow for real-time management of radio resources along with interference management across multiple frequencies.
“This release is a big step in our mission to transform complex and dynamic information available across the wireless network into powerful yet easy to use solutions and tools to automate network deployment, dynamically optimize network resources and capabilities, and improve the user experience,” Yan Hui, co-founder and CEO of AirHop, said in a statement.
“We have expanded our ability to leverage real-time radio channel characterization for capacity optimization and interference management as well as combining those metrics with traditional KPIs and broad based analytics for predictive network management,” he said.
AirHop’s SON solution works in multicell and multicarrier situations. It also includes a broad aperture analytics platform for centralized or distributed use cases.
Current Analysis VP Peter Jarich said the new AirHop product offering meets “critical” mobile network operator needs.
“As operators move on scaling their hetnet deployments a few things are critical,” Jarich said. “Specifically, they need multivendor solutions which can support small cell and macro cell layers. Focusing on these features, AirHop’s next-gen E-SON marks a significant expansion of its core hetnet capabilities and platform.”
Analyst Sue Rudd said the E-SON can direct real-time network data to “a SON solution that can effectively optimize coverage, capacity, throughput and robustness.”
AirHop is actively deploying its next-generation E-SON for commercial launch later this year.
