Tasteless Apple image comes ahead of rumored smartphone release

Leshi TV (LeTV) CEO Jia Yeuting this week posted a photo to his Weibo blog page that depicts Nazi leader Adolf Hitler wearing a red arm band feature the Apple logo.

The image includes a caption that reads: “Crowdsourced, freedom vs. arrogance, tyranny,” according to numerous media reports.

Tech website The Verge broke the story and translated an accompanying message from Yeuting as calling out the “arrogant regime of iOS domination that developers around the world love yet hate, we are always carefully asking, is this kind of innovation okay?”

Numerous well-reported leaks suggest LeTV may drop multiple new smartphones next month; some media outlets have pegged the date as April 2. Those rumors include plans for a bezel-less handset.

Yeuting, who has an estimated net worth of more than $3 billion, has more than 5 million Weibo followers. He founded LeTV, an online peer-to-peer video platform, in November 2004.
