The goal is to let clients monetize Wi-Fi and meet carrier demand for Wi-Fi and cellular offload
To ease the struggle of finding Wi-Fi hot spots to support the always-on lifestyle, Mosaik and BSG Wireless have partnered to provide a comprehensive database of the location and availability of wireless access points.
The goal is “to improve quality of the global Wi-Fi directory and create a reliable source for the most accurate Wi-Fi location data,” according to an announcement.
By making better relevant datasets, Wi-Fi operators would be enabled to better monetize Wi-Fi networks and meet carrier demand for Wi-Fi and cellular data offload.
Mosaik Solutions builds telecom apps and maintains an in-depth database of network coverage and infrastructure components; the service is used by clients to understand spectrum and network dynamics to improve end-user experience and reduce customer churn.
BSG Wireless, based in San Antonio, Texas, provides carriers with Wi-Fi solutions and services including global wireless roaming, location directors and payment portals, among other services.
“Both Mosaik Solutions and BSG Wireless are award-winning innovators in the mobile and Wi-Fi ecosystem,” Bryan Darr, founder and CEO at Mosaik Solutions, said. “Our combined capabilities will help service providers optimize user experiences, improve confidence in cellular offload and better monetize Wi-Fi networks.”
“Mosaik has a powerful reputation for delivering telecom network intelligence solutions to the wireless industry,” said Atul Devani, CEO at BSG Wireless. “I am confident we can jointly create valuable offerings for Wi-Fi service providers.”
Last month at PCIA’s Wireless Infrastructure Show in Hollywood, Fla., Mosaik announced a Web-based platform to search tower assets, called TowerSource, meant to ease site planning functions.
“The continued explosion in data traffic is prompting the need to make the wireless networks deeper, not just larger, in order to improve the end-user experience,” Darr said.
“The public’s appetite will continue to drive the demand for new sites as well as the opportunity to maximize the investment in the assets already in place. We’re investing in TowerSource to make it the ideal analysis platform for both asset owners and anyone transmitting a radio signal.”
