1. Tablet sales are expected to fall 8% this year, according to the analysts at IDC. They say businesses have not adopted tablets as PC replacements, and that tablets that can double as laptop computers are selling the best. Overall, the firm projects that 212 million tablets will ship this year.
2. Sprint plans more cost cuts this year. CEO Marcelo Claure told the Kansas City Star that he plans to cut costs just as aggressively as he did during his first year at Sprint, and that he needs a way to finance Sprint’s turnaround. 3. Wireless carriers are gaining ground again on Wall Street after Monday’s bloodbath. 5. Verizon wants to turn every vehicle into a connected car. For $15 a month, drivers can subscribe to Verizon’s new service called Hum, for vehicle diagnostics and roadside assistance. The service is compatible with more than 150 million vehicles that are on the road today, according to Verizon.
