Wireless backhaul platform helps carriers expand 4G in North America

Three large North American mobile operators are expanding their 4G networks using a new IP-20 wireless backhaul platform developed by Ceragon Networks to efficiently transition existing networks to 4G in order to expand coverage and increase capacity.

Ceragon Networks believes the platform’s backward compatibility capabilities, which work with the company’s remote-site legacy products, will help carriers meet increasing network traffic demands by improving spectral efficiency and reducing implementation times. The platform also could help cut down on infrastructure site visits and tower real estate costs.

“We are extremely pleased to see our North American customers embracing the IP-20 platform in their 4G expansion projects,” Ira Palti, president and CEO of Ceragon said. “We appreciate the long-term partnerships we have with our customers, and are continuously providing them with a truly best-of-breed portfolio of products that meets their current and future needs.”

The IP-20 platform is a microwave platform for network hauling, which includes wireless products that provide backhaul and fronthaul solutions.

Ceragon Networks is a wireless backhaul solutions provider helping mobile operators and other service providers deliver their 4G/LTE, 3G and 2G services. The company serves public utilities, defense organizations and other government agencies.

The company recently signed a $43 million deal to provide the platform to three operators in the Asia Pacific region with one of those operators being in India.

The names of the three North American mobile operators have not been released.
