Register for Mobile World Congress 2016, Feb. 22-25, in Barcelona
For industry veterans, working in the mobile ecosystem can feel like a never-ending series of conferences, exhibitions and meetings. Not only can these events become costly in terms of time and money, they often don’t afford the opportunity to conduct meaningful business. But then there is Mobile World Congress, set for Feb. 22-25 at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.
Mobile World Congress is the premiere mobile industry event, bringing together key players and decision-makers to learn, network and conduct business. Everyone from CEOs and startup founders to sales executives and government leaders meet in Barcelona each year to discover and determine the future of the mobile industry.
Mobile World Congress is organized by the GSMA, the industry association representing mobile network operators. The GSMA counts among its members some 800 operators and more than 250 supporting companies worldwide, including handset and device makers, software firms, equipment vendors and Internet-based ventures.
The theme of this year’s event is “Mobile is Everything,” described in this blog post by the GSMA: “We realized that, these days, everything is mobile. Money. Health. Education. Communication. Security. Home automation. There are very few things being created today that don’t somehow have a mobile component to them. So not only is everything mobile, but mobile is everything.”
MWC 2016 is expected to draw more than 95,000 attendees from 200 countries to Barcelona. More than 2,100 companies will be on hand to display cutting-edge technology in the MWC exhibition; unique pavilion spaces will focus on important topics like mobile cloud, wearables, NFC and mobile money, the Internet of Things and more. Check out the full list of exhibitors.
In addition to the exhibition, the MWC conference keynote program offers an impressive line-up of executives from across the mobile ecosystem, as well as adjacent industry sectors, including leaders from companies such as ARM, AT&T, China Mobile, Cisco, Ericsson, Facebook, GE, Intel, MasterCard, Nokia, PayPal and Vodafone, among others. This year’s program will also include Derek Aberle, President of Qualcomm Incorporated, who will be joined by guests from the MERCEDES AMG Petronas Formula One team, including three-time World Champion driver Lewis Hamilton, to discuss how wireless technology is transforming the future of consumer automotive through motorsport.

“We’re just a month away from Mobile World Congress and our 2016 edition is set to be our broadest, most exciting event yet,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer for the GSMA. “We have an outstanding conference programme, with leaders from across the ecosystem, as well as adjacent industry sectors, showcasing how mobile is transforming everyday life for billions of people around the world. Beyond the conference, Mobile World Congress attendees will have the opportunity to experience the impact of mobile through the exhibition, partner programmes, seminars and many other events and activities. We look forward to welcoming the mobile world to Barcelona.”
