‘T-Mobile Tuesdays’ app couldn’t keep up with demand; CEO told customers, ‘we’re making good’
At its “Un-carrier 11” marketing event Monday, T-Mobile US offered customers free weekly perks, and even a share of company stock among other benefits. But, heavy demand impacted the app’s functionality prompting many subscribers to vent directly via Twitter to CEO John Legere.
Here’s a full report on the event, but relative to the app the carrier unveiled a customer loyalty program tied to the downloadable T-Mobile Tuesdays application, which provides free items each Tuesday to all customers on a branded, monthly plan with voice service. Initial free items available include a medium two-topping pizza from Domino’s, a movie from Vudu and a Frosty from Wendy’s.
Twitter commentary ranged from appreciation for the concept to “this sucks,” and, “can’t access the app at all.”
Legere, known for his active use of social media platforms Twitter and Periscope, responded: “Still seeing huge #TMobileTuesdays app volume, but we’re making good! You won’t lose anything and we’ll make this right ASAP! #StayTuned”
Two hours following the above message, Legere updated his 2.56 million Twitter followers: “UPDATE: The #TMobileTuesdays app is ready for you. #ThankYou for bearing with us while we added more capacity! Now go #GetThanked. :)”
Future giveaway partners include Gilt, StubHub, Fandango, Legendary Pictures, Universal Pictures, Lyft and more, according to the company.
