The NB-IoT-based smart parking and water monitoring solutions were jointly launched with China Mobile Zhejiang Branch
ZTE said it carried out a demonstration of its smart parking and smart water monitoring services based on narrow-band “internet of things” technology at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, China.
The two NB-IoT services, which comply with Third Generation Partnership Project standards, were jointly launched by China Mobile Zhejiang Branch and ZTE in October. The Chinese vendor said the smart parking solution uses underground car detection.
“By monitoring changes in a magnetic field, parking space data is captured. Through the NB-IoT network, relevant data is transmitted to the management platform to help car owners quickly park or find their cars,” the company said in a release. “A variety of App-enabled payment such as WeChat makes the service user-friendly and convenient to maintain. Traditional management costs can be saved and consequently revenues will increase. This smart service aims to relieve urban traffic jams and mitigate air pollution.”
Zhejiang Mobile and ZTE jointly piloted a smart water monitoring project in Wuzhen, which included collection points deployed over a range of water sources in order to add analysis intelligence monitored information. The vendor also said various water parameter collection sensors, NB-IoT chips and communication modules are embedded in smart terminals, and the system can be interconnected with up to five governmental water control platforms to provide a collaborative emergency response.
ZTE also works with the Zhejiang Branch of China Mobile to provide exclusive end-to-end solutions to wireless networks, core networks and service platforms.
In August, ZTE and China Unicom inked a strategic cooperation agreement on joint “5G” and industrial IoT innovation. Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will work together to develop cooperative projects and conduct research on application scenarios, product demands, service applications, market development and other related fields.
