The new enterprise offering combines small cells with mobile edge computing apps
Japan’s NEC Corporation announced that Dutch telco Vodafone Netherlands has launched a new offering for the enterprise segment combining NEC’s Small Cells with Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) applications.
The new offering, dubbed SignaalPlus Enterprise Connect, allows mobile devices to attach to the enterprise Unified Communications (UC) on premise as a standard UC endpoint and offer a full range of mobile and UC services.
NEC also said that the new solution allows a single mobile device to securely connect with all local enterprise information systems, as well as manufacturing and healthcare equipment, allowing integrated communication, messaging, alarm handling and automation.
The solution also allows for internal critical communications and business processes to continue in emergencies, fixed or mobile network outages and natural disasters. The Japanese firm highlighted that resilience is a key requirement for many sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, logistics and hospitality environments.
The solution for Vodafone Netherlands was developed by NEC using its own products and its vertical specific expertise.
“NEC’s selection by Vodafone Netherlands as a partner in extending Vodafone’s communication portfolio is testament to our proven track record in system integration and service delivery,” said Lars Distelrath of NEC Deutschland.
“NEC’s long standing R&D innovation, wide ICT and wireless portfolio and open ecosystem approach towards bringing in new innovations uniquely differentiate us in the Enterprise and Industrial IoT space,” said Yogarajah Gopikrishna, Head of Engineering and Strategy, NEC Europe.
