Moderator Mike Krell, Moor Insights & Strategy is joined by Rhonda Dirvin, Board Member, OpenFog Consortium and John Nye, Business Development Executive, Senet, in the ‘Connecting the dots between fragmented projects’ panel discussion at the Enterpise IoT Summit in Austin, Texas.

Mike Krell has a passion for all things electronic and has spent more than 30 years working and playing with hardware, software, PCs, laptops, handhelds, and home electronics. Mike covers both the Human and Industrial IoT segments for MI&S and specializes in providing research and analysis and go-to-market strategies for companies looking to deliver successful solutions into IoT markets.

Key accomplishments in Mike’s recent career include: Development and execution of a communication strategy that over doubled the print and online coverage of MIPI Alliance Authored the initial market strategy that lead to Series A round financing for Toopher, Inc. (Toopher has recently been purchased by Salesforce.com) Designed and executed the branding and communications strategy for Alereon’s initial product launches worldwide Took leadership role with the WiMedia Alliance and ECMA to finalize the international specifications for Ultrawideband wireless technology.

Prior to his MI&S affiliation, Mike was responsible for all marketing strategies and programs for MIPI Alliance, a global provider of interface specifications for cellular handset. Mike served as sr. director of corporate communications and business development for Alereon a leading innovator in the Ultrawideband wireless market and was responsible for all aspects of Alereon’s corporate communications. While at Alereon he participated and worked with IEEE 802.3, the USB-IF, Bluetooth-SIG, Multiband OFDM Alliance and was a board member of the WiMedia Alliance.

Prior to Alereon, Mike was the director of corporate communications for Legerity, a leading supplier of IC’s for the telecommunications market, and vice president of marketing and business development for TheResidentClub, a leading supplier of private-labeled, web-based communities for real estate operating and financial services companies.

Mike also served as an independent consultant and a principal and founder of the Customer Manufacturing Group, focusing on Internet sales and marketing. His clients included Transmeta Corporation, SCG Realty (now Archstone), the Internet Coupon Network and Calendar Club. Mike spent his early career at AMD where he held a variety of key marketing positions. Mike holds a BS degree in electrical engineering and a BS in computer engineering from the University of Michigan. Mike is an advisory board member for Toopher, a leader in multi-factor authentication and also a founding board member of the Hebrew Free Loan Association of Austin. He has previously held board positions for the Center for Child Protection in Austin, the Jewish Community Association of Austin and the Austin Food Bloggers Alliance. Mike is also the creator of AustinFoodCarts.com.

 

Rhonda Dirvin is Board Director and Founding Member of OpenFog Consortium. Rhonda is Director of the Internet of Things Verticals at ARM.  Since joining ARM in 2011, she has worked in several marketing and strategic roles, including digital marketing and alliances. She now drives ARM’s marketing strategy through the lens of IoT vertical markets.

Ms. Dirvin is an experienced electronics-industry veteran, who began her career with Motorola Semiconductor, where she worked for 17 years.  She started in the nascent data communications business where she took on increasing responsibility as it grew into a multi-billion dollar business.  She moved on to roles in sales, wireless marketing, and operations with P&L responsibility.  She holds a BS in electrical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Red McCombs School of Business.

 

John Nye has been helping businesses transform their offerings and go-to-market, supporting large enterprises in building and rolling out new solutions, while also developing and running global sales channel programs. Prior to Joining Senet John served as VP, enterprise sales and channels at GENBAND, a leading provider of unified communications and infrastructure solutions to the telecom and enterprise markets. Before joining GENBAND, John held senior executive, sales, and business development roles at several global network and technology companies. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University.
