IoT firm Freestyle Technology will deploy smart water meters in Gochang municipality under a five-year deal.
Australian internet of things firm Freestyle Technology signed a $4.4 million contract to roll out an IoT water management solution for a municipal government in South Korea.
Under terms of the five-year deal, Freestyle Technology will deploy an end-to-end system of smart water meters, communications equipment and cloud-based software covering 24,000 residences in the municipality of Gochang.
“It is a major achievement for an early stage Australian technology company to be punching well above its weight in highly advanced and competitive markets,” said Freestyle Chief Executive Mohan Jesudason, in a statement.
The water management solution will detect water leaks in the 24,000 premises, and automatically work out the best course of action to fix the problem based on the external environment and temperature.
“Customer service transforms to customer care where, for example, an alert is raised at the municipality if water consumption stops for the elderly living alone. The municipality responds with a customer visit,” Freestyle Technology said in a statement.
Freestyle has a branch in South Korea, where the firm also has three IoT water management trials running with other municipal governments. The Australian startup also develops connected solutions for electricity and waste management services.
In Asia Pacific, the firm has existing deals with Taiwan’s largest telecommunications company, Chunghwa Telecom, and Chinese and Taiwanese gas suppliers.
LG looks to partner with Indian telecoms operators to offer IoT smart appliances
LG is looking to sign partnerships with telecommunications operators in India to start offering its smart appliances connected with IoT technology, Indian press reported.
Through the partnerships, LG is looking to introduce appliances equipped with its HomeChat and SmartThinQ platform that enable consumers to control and operate home appliances through smartphones.
