Both vendors have announced progress with IoT testing solutions
Test equipment vendors are wasting no time in readying their solutions to support the low-power wide area connectivity technologies that enable the internet of things.
Anritsu says it is the first test company to earn global certification forum approval for more than 80% of LTE Category M1 RF conformance test cases for frequencies used in Japan, North America, and Europe. The company says its tests can be used to verify that IoT devices on low-power wide area LTE networks are compliant with global standards.
Carriers and their partners can run the tests by installing new software for an existing LTE-Advanced RF conformance test system, the ME7873LA. Anritsu said this was the first test system in the industry to earn Cat-M1 GCF certification
Meanwhile Keysight Technologies said it has integrated its UXM wireless test set with Sequans’ Monarch LTE for IoT platform. The Monarch chipset can be configured to support either LTE Category M1 or narrowband IoT.
“Our work with Keysight gives our customers assurance that our Monarch platform can fully support the NB-IoT and LTE-M 3GPP narrowband IoT technologies,” said Danny Kedar, vice president of Sequans’ IoT business unit. “While the two technologies are deploying at different rates around the world, with LTE-M, a priority in the USA, and NB-IoT, the priority in Europe and Asia, it’s important that testing solutions support both, and our collaboration with Keysight enables this.”
The companies added that Keysight and Sequans are developing products and solutions that are tailored for the IoT ecosystem and are now working closely together to accelerate the deployment of IoT technologies.
