Business enterprises across the globe today are looking to embrace digital transformation to help them stay ahead of the curve. Whether you are a startup or a medium sized enterprise or a Fortune 500 company, consumers today seek faster services with growing demands. To ensure businesses are able to deliver as per customer demands, companies are using big data to their advantage. Analyzing huge data for insights and trends not only leads to better decisions and strategic business moves, it also helps enterprises to offer continuous accelerated delivery.

Adopting a continuous accelerated delivery model, businesses can ensure a stable on-time release of a product or a service and ensure they enjoy the much coveted ‘first mover advantage’. This requires an environment that is steeped in continuous accelerated development and testing, which is only possible when an enterprise adopts ‘DevOps’ and bridges the gap between development and operations.

Understanding DevOps as a residual outcome of a changing work culture

As per some of the recent surveys and reports, over 60% of CIOs have listed combining development and operations on their IT agenda. As businesses look to offer new products faster than their rivals and peers, adopting accelerated continuous testing methodologies in an agile environment is key to enabling this future.

DevOps which started from adopting an agile or lean approach towards operational work has today become synonymous with an organization’s work culture. In this service oriented world, DevOps is helping enterprises release periodic updates at a faster pace as it helps build, operate and evolve new resilient systems.

DevOps and innovation acceleration

With development engineers and the operations department working together for any enterprise, a primary corollary is innovation acceleration. DevOps in itself is an innovative way of handling operations with the innovation quotient flowing into the work ethic and culture as the enterprise adopts an agile approach.

Innovation driven by embracing a ‘fail fast, fail often’ culture

DevOps promotes an innovative approach towards their future product releases.

Traditionally, failure has been considered to be a dreaded word that should be avoided at all costs. As enterprises adopt DevOps, they drop with it the fear of failure. DevOps encourages failure but with a notion of failing fast and failing often to ensure no time is wasted on adopting a non-starter principle. By failing fast and failing often, an enterprise quickly rules out various approaches that are unlikely to deliver results. This failing fast approach does not deter organizations to try out new innovations and in fact promotes an innovative approach towards their future product releases as automating and eliminating roadblocks encourages teams to work on new ideas.

Collaborative sharing of new ideas

DevOps ensures everyone from development to operations is on the same page right from the inception of a new idea. This eliminates any blame game scenario allowing employees to share ideas freely and frequently. The more ideas are shared by the team in a DevOps environment, the higher is the chance for the enterprise to strike gold with an innovative new idea that fits their bill.

Continuous delivery to continuous innovation

DevOps offers a continuous approach from the initial incubation to continuous deployment, testing, and monitoring. With faster service visualizations, test automation teams are able to push projects at a faster pace. This allows developers to introduce new features as they get time at hand to work on detailed functionality with automated testing in an accelerated environment.

Reduced development costs mean more funds for R&D

Find out how cost effective DevOps is and how it leads to accelerated innovation

DevOps is not just about an agile work environment or continuous delivery and acceleration. A significant aspect of DevOps is its cost effectiveness. Enterprises are saving both time and money. With additional savings, enterprises can make use of their funds towards strategic research and fuel innovation.  Adopting DevOps is helping enterprises reallocate better budgets for research and development.

DevOps is allowing enterprises to harness the advantages of newer and faster product development leading to faster releases. Enterprises as a result are able to push new updates giving them an advantage over their rivals. All of this leads to increased market share and profitability but one essential trait often overlooked is innovation.

DevOps is promoting organizations to adopt innovation like never before. From accelerated testing to accelerated innovation, DevOps holds a direct correlation with using an agile approach to drive innovation and deliver timely results without compromising on quality.
