The IoT deployment is part of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s smart initiatives
Silver Spring Networks has announced the completion of the deployment of its multi-application IPv6 network canopy for Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
DEWA’s network canopy extends across the Emirate of Dubai and is based on Silver Spring’s Gen5 technology. Silver Spring Networks said that the integration of the network is expected to be fully completed before the end of the year.
Silver Spring Networks also said that its Gen5 technology has been integrated into smart meter devices from Honeywell Elster, to connect the first DEWA electric customers to its IoT canopy as a part of the next phase of this modernization project.
DEWA provides services for over 700,000 electricity and 600,000 water connections across Dubai, all of which it intends to connect to the network canopy through additional Silver Spring ecosystem partners and future phases of it modernization program.

Kerlink gateways supports Digimondo’s LoRaWAN IoT networks rollouts in Europe
In related news, Kerlink and Digimondo, an European IoT end-to-end solution providers, announced that Kerlink gateways are being integrated in Digimondo’s LoRaWAN network rollouts in Germany and across Europe.
Digimondo offers a LoRaWAN network server called firefly. Along with E.ON, Digimondo recently completed one of Germany’s largest LoRaWAN IoT rollouts using firefly software and Kerlink hardware in the city of Gehrden and surrounding areas. The deployment installed more than 1,100 smart electricity meters, and smart-parking sensors.
The LoRaWAN network server firefly, offered both as software as a service (SAAS) and on-premise, connects objects to Digimondo’s networks, the company said.
