Ericsson has also announced a commercial IoT platform in Sri Lanka with Dialog Axiata
Cisco and the Three Group have announced the global availability of the Cisco Jasper Control Center automated IoT connectivity platform for enterprise customers. The Three Group’s customers can now have access to Cisco Jasper’s IoT platform across the group’s global footprint of 12 mobile networks and international roaming partners.
The Three Group, which is part of the conglomerate CK Hutchison, serves over 130 million customers in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Ireland, Macau, Sri Lanka, Sweden, UK and Vietnam.

Our global footprint, combined with the Cisco Jasper global IoT platform, will enable enterprises around the world to launch and grow worldwide IoT service businesses.”
The mobile telephony group said that the implementation of the Cisco Jasper IoT platform will help bring smart meter services and smart grid deployments to market faster.
Three Group also said that this new offering will also enable the delivery of connected car services in the 12 markets where the mobile group operates.
The company also highlighted that smart buildings and smart cities projects will be enabled through this new offering.

In related news, Ericsson has deployed a commercial IoT network for Dialog Axiata, Sri Lanka’s largest telecommunications services provider.
The Swedish vendor said that the new IoT network supports both Cat-M1 and NB-IoT technologies.
“With this launch, we are seeking to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies by enterprises and help them create exciting new products and services for consumers. The Cat-M1/NB-IoT network will amplify opportunity for solutions such as smart metering for utilities, smart parking, smart bins, smart environmental sensors for smart cities, logistic solutions as well as other applications in agriculture and farming,” Pradeep De Almeida, Dialog Axiata’s CTO said.
Ericsson delivers Cat-M1 (LTE-M) and NB-IoT support as a software activation to Dialog Axiata’s existing LTE Radio Access Network.
