KORE signs deal with Google Cloud to pair IoT and AI functions, drive sales

Google Cloud and KORE have signed a multi-year go-to-market alliance to pair the former’s data analytics capabilities with the latter’s IoT connectivity services. KORE suggested it is the “first time” that Google Cloud will offer an IoT platform and IoT solutions for healthcare, fleet, and industrial verticals. The project, like most in the IoT game, is supposed to “simplify the complexities of IoT deployments” by pulling together a full solution in one sales channel.

Effectively, KORE is drawing on Google for sundry cloud data and analytics services, to process and translate IoT data it pulls from its own “one-stop” hardware and connectivity bundle. A spokesperson said: “It is no secret that the growth in IoT deployment has been slower than expected. Companies have found the complexity of implementing IoT to be more difficult with too many issues that must be managed. This partnership seeks to solve these issues.”

A statement added: “This new solution will bring numerous value-added features to customers in not only connectivity but also device management and streamlined processes.” The pair flagged the “long-term” reliability and quality of their joint offering. US outfit KORE, based in Georgia, claims to be the “world’s only pure-play IoT company”. It chas 3,600 enterprise customers, managing 15.3 million IoT connections in 190-odd countries, it says.

Their stated aim, also, is to “expand new paths to market” for healthcare, logistics, industrial, and retail sectors, including work to “support co-innovation” to accelerate IoT in each sector. It appears existing customers of KORE will have their services migrated onto Google’s cloud infrastructure. A spokesperson hinted at some joint innovations, citing a solution to “bypass the data bouncing when transmitting data to the cloud” in order to reduce latency, and an anomaly detection system to forecast behavior and shut-down devices ahead of security breaches.

Romil Bahl, president and chief at KORE, said: “The collaboration with Google Cloud will help customers innovate with IoT and shows the strong foundation we provide for organizations to simplify the complexities of IoT through our solution set, which provides comprehensive value throughout the IoT life cycle.”

Pallab Deb, managing director for ISV partnerships at Google Cloud, said: “By partnering with IoT innovators like KORE, we can help businesses securely provision, manage and scale their IoT devices. Through this new partnership, enterprises get more value from connected devices and equipment and gain real-time insights from their IoT data.”
