Kagan: Juniper Networks riding the private network, AI growth wave

The telecommunications industry has gone through many change waves over the decades. Today, Artificial Intelligence driven private networks may be becoming the next one. Looking forward, security and chatbot tech are important pieces of this puzzle. Juniper Networks is one of the companies in this space. Let’s see how long this growth wave will impact the company and how long this opportunity will last.

First, as we pull the camera back to get a longer-term, historical perspective, it’s important to understand that the definition of this category in general is getting a little murky. Let me help make things clearer for you.

Juniper Networks AI-driven, private networking, enterprise networking

I recently met with Juniper Networks executives and learned more about them. I see them as an AI-driven, private networking company on both the wireless and wire line side of the fence. Some call this area enterprise networking.

We met at the University of Texas at Dallas. Juniper Networks is helping the university update their communications network for students and faculty, taking it to entirely new levels. What they are doing there is in fact very impressive.

Based on how I see Juniper Networks compared to their competitors, and after watching the telecommunications industry evolve over time, I would classify them as a competitor in the secure AI driven, private wireless networking or enterprise networking space.

They see this next growth wave and have jumped on it. Today, they are benefitting from industry trends like digital transformation, AI and moves to the cloud.

Juniper Networks compete with Cisco, Extreme Networks, Arista Networks

Competitors in the space include many different companies, sometimes in different sectors. Think powerful companies, large and small like Cisco, Extreme Networks, Arista Networks, VMware, HPE Aruba, Fortinet, Dell Apex, Palo Alto Networks and others.

These companies are in this growing sector. As time passes, and new technology is created, their focus has evolved as well.

Juniper Networks is a smaller competitor in this larger private wireless space. However, as we have seen, smaller competitors are the innovation drivers of the sector. They often work harder as they continue to innovate, driving changes in the entire industry.

AI driven growth wave has begun in private network space

In the areas of private networking and AI technology, over time we have seen growth come in waves. Today, it looks like we have entered the next AI growth wave.

Today, the industry seems to be forward driven using secure, AI technology. Juniper Networks is in a part of the private networking industry, which is advancing AI technology, and driving a segment of this world.

That’s one reason Juniper Networks seems to be successfully catching the growth wave with AI and private networks.

Artificial Intelligence seems to be strengthening many different companies. However, all these companies do not benefit the same way. Some are simply rising along with the current, generic growth wave.

Others are finding real, solid growth as key players in this space. Based on what I see to date, I would say Juniper Networks is in this second category.

AI driven, Private network, growth wave should continue

This growth trend is expected to continue. How long is always the question. Since the private networking space is still on its upward climb on the growth wave, and since AI and Chatbot technology are all important pieces of this puzzle, it looks like this space will continue to show growth going forward.

Juniper Networks Mist is an important piece of the AI puzzle for them with regards to growth. Mist helps companies automate wireless and wire line networks with self-routing automation which ensures a secure user experience.

Juniper Networks Marvis is a virtual assistance which is AI driven. Think Chatbot-like technology. Marvis helps improve security and stability of the network, keeping quality and reliability high.

Juniper Networks Mist and Marvis show company in AI growth wave

So, as you can see, the private network and enterprise network space is on fire. It is on a growth wave with AI and Chatbot technology throwing fuel on the fire for both wireless and wire line services.

Enterprises like companies, colleges, governments and more are all starting to modernize their networks. This is a real and growing opportunity for companies like Juniper Networks in this space.

That’s why Juniper Networks and their competitors will continue to show growth going forward. Today, we are still on the growing side of the growth curve.

It is too early to tell what the industry leadership lineup in the industry will look like going forward. The good news is, this growth wave is real and companies who are riding it will continue to do strong business.
