Amdocs announces new contracts with Airtel and etisalat by e&

Amdocs said that the deal with Bharti Airtel aims to drive 5G and IoT monetization and enhance its end-user customer experience

Amdocs has signed new contracts with Indian operator Bharti Airtel and Middle East telco etisalat by e&, the company said in a release.

Amdocs said that the deal with Bharti Airtel aims to drive 5G and IoT monetization and enhance the operator’s end-user customer experience. As part of the contract, Amdocs will create a digital platform to automate and digitize Airtel’s business operations and help the Indian operator create a single-bundled plan and bill for all its services.

Once implemented, the platform will help customers of Airtel Black—its offering that combines all accounts into a single Airtel plan—create their own plan across multiple Airtel offerings, such as mobile, broadband and direct-to-home. This transition will help Airtel offer a unified customer experience, enhance billing accuracy as well as optimize business operations with seamless ecosystem integration and real-time insights, facilitating informed decision making, Amdocs said.

“As Airtel transitions from a telco to a techco, we are constantly looking for ways and means to enhance our customer experience with the right use of technology solutions,” said Pradipt Kapoor, CIO at Bharti Airtel. “We are delighted to transition to Amdocs’s converged billing platform as we consolidate our digital architecture and optimize service delivery in critical areas like billing.”

Amdocs also announced it has been selected by etisalat by e& to deliver an autonomous in-store retail experience for the telco’s customers in the United Arab Emirates.

With the new solution, visitors to the store will enjoy a “frictionless experience” by selecting their items and will be able to pay for their items anywhere inside the store using a specifically designed mobile app, or at the exit gate. While inside the store, customers will receive real-time updates on their mobile cart as they pick up items, ensuring a personalized and seamless shopping experience, Amdocs said.

“Our new stores will set elevated standards for retail excellence and customer satisfaction,” said Amr Khalifa, senior vice president of customer interaction and product development at etisalat by e&. “We are creating stores of the future that utilize our innovation, expertise and leadership to provide a superior shopping experience for our customers, and will serve as trailblazers in advancing the digital landscape of the UAE. This partnership with Amdocs demonstrates our commitment to driving innovation in the UAE’s digital sphere, and holds immense strategic importance for the e& group’s transformation from a telco to a techco.”

Meawnhile, Anthony Goonetilleke, group president of technology and head of strategy at Amdocs, noted that simplifying and enhancing the customer experience across customer interactions is key to continued growth for service providers all over the world.
