Samsung said its AI model is coming ‘early next year,’ suggesting it might be included in its Galaxy S24 lineup
Samsung Electronics this week announced Galaxy AI, which the company described as “a comprehensive mobile AI experience” in a blog post. According to the company, Galaxy AI is coming “early next year,” suggesting it might be included in its Galaxy S24 smartphone lineup.
“Galaxy AI is a comprehensive mobile AI experience, powered by both on-device AI developed at Samsung and cloud-based AI enabled by our open collaborations with like-minded industry leaders,” said Samsung. “It will transform your everyday mobile experience with the peace of mind you count on from Galaxy security and privacy.”
The AI system includes Samsung’s generative language model called Gauss Language —named after mathematician and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauss — that assists in the composition of emails and translates content, as well as Gauss Image, which can generate and edit images. The system also has a feature that makes it possible for in-house software developers to more quickly write code.
Currently, Samsung is using its Gauss models for employee productivity, but the company said it will expand this usage to include “a variety of Samsung product applications to provide new user experience in the near future.”
If Samsung sticks to the “early next year” timeline it set, it might possibly be the first handset maker to bring generative AI to these devices.
