PHILADELPHIA-Electronic component company Technitrol Inc. announced it will acquire the antenna-making operations of Filtronic plc, which designs and manufactures customized microwave electronic subsystems and components for wireless telecommunications. Technitrol said it will pay $82.8 million for Filtronic’s Kempele, Finland-based LK Products Oy antenna business.
Technitrol said LK Products is the world’s second-largest antenna vendor, with a 16-percent market share. The company supplies antennas to mobile phone, personal digital assistant and laptop computer vendors, and counts Nokia Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. as customers. LK scored revenues of $91 million last year, and Technitrol said the acquisition will immediately add between 3 cents to 4 cents to its earnings per share once the deal closes.
