PARIS-Game developer and publisher InfraWorlds snared $4.25 million in financing and set its sights on the U.S. wireless entertainment market with the acquisition of a California publisher, the company said Thursday.
Existing investor Sofinnova Partners led the round, and U.S. firm Cross Atlantic Ventures also participated in the financing. InfraWorlds, which specializes in creating content for Java-based devices, also announced the acquisition of 995 Soft, which develops and distributes applications for mobile phones and personal digital assistants.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“We have decided to push InfraWorld’s growth by providing the company with the necessary means to carry out a true acquisition strategy,” said Jean Schmitt, an associated partner at Sofinnova. “The fact American investors have invested in the company allows us to develop in the U.S. market while at the same time minimizing risks.”
