Wireless broadband decreases while broadband sector grows

WASHINGTON-Broadband in the United States is increasing at the same time the percentage of those using wireless for broadband is decreasing, according to a recent report released by the Federal Communications Commission.

While satellite or terrestrial wireless connections increased by 50 percent to 500,000 lines from 1999 to 2004, the percentage of lines using satellite or terrestrial wireless for a broadband connection decreased from 1.8 percent in 1999 to 1.5 percent of total lines in 2004. The total number of lines as of December 2004 was 37,890,646.
