BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless said it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Valley Telecommunications Co.’s cellular assets in southeast Arizona for an undisclosed amount.
The purchase includes Valley Telecom’s cellular license covering 160,000 potential customers, and network and operation assets in Graham, Greenlee and Cochise counties. Verizon Wireless noted the license is adjacent to areas in both Arizona and New Mexico currently served by its network.
“We were approached by several of the national wireless providers and felt strongly that Verizon Wireless lined up closely with our customer service-driven operating philosophy,” said Steve Metts, chief executive officer of Valley TeleCom Goup.
The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter.
