KDDI deploys OTA technology on 2 more devices

SAN JOSE, Calif.-Japanese carrier KDDI Corp. has deployed InnoPath Software’s over-the-air technology on two new handsets, the companies said Thursday.

The new phones feature InnoPath’s DeltaUpgrade Plus, which allows carriers to fix glitches and update firmware through the network. InnoPath, which has also deployed its technology with carriers and handset providers in the United States, China and Korea, said KDDI will expand the service to other handsets.

“With DeltaUpgrade Plus we can now provide fast, seamless software updates and upgrades within several minutes, while offering our customers increased choice, control and convenience for their mobile-phone experience,” said Kimihiko Nakamura, a KDDI general manager.
