DULLES, Va.-Orbcomm Global L.P. granted type approval to Stellar Satellite Communications Ltd., a subsidiary of Elisra Electronics Systems Ltd. of Bene Beraq, for the second of a planned series of Orbcomm satellite communication units.
The new Stellar data communicator, EL-2000G with Global Positioning System, is designed for tracking and mobile applications, Orbcomm said. The original EL-2000 provides below 1,000 meter position accuracy, but the companies said they added GPS technology because some users require GPS-level accuracy for their applications.
