REDWOOD CITY, Calif.-Northern Telecom Ltd. said it will invest $20 million in Interwave Communications International Ltd. in a strategic alliance to integrate Interwave’s radio and switching solutions into Nortel’s Global System for Mobile communications product line.
Interwave’s products are optimized for corporate and rural community applications.
“These new small-capacity, integrated solutions will complement Nortel’s GSM product family by allowing us to enter into market segments previously not economical to address,” said Pacal Debon, group vice president and general manager of Nortel’s GSM Wireless Networks.
