The Ginger Media Group, owners of U.K.-based Virgin Radio, is collaborating with L.M. Ericsson in early trials of wireless third-generation technology that would allow local or national radio stations to reach global audiences, said Ericsson.The manufacturer’s concept is to allow anyone, anywhere in the world to tune in to Virgin Radio programs using wireless Internet terminals. These terminals would allow users to simultaneously surf the Internet, send and receive video material, watch Web TV, videoconference, play interactive multimedia games and select entertainment sources. Ericsson and Ginger have added Virgin Radio material to the range of services Ericsson is trialing at its 3G network in the United Kingdom.

Paging Network Inc. announced it has converted customers in Michigan to its Centers of Excellence infrastructure.

Diginet Americas Inc., a provider of fixed wireless broadband services to Latin America, announced its second round of private equity financing of $73 million was oversubscribed. Diginet Americas’ total committed equity capital now exceeds $145 million. The company said it will use the capital to accelerate the deployment of its fixed wireless networks throughout Latin America, with a focus on Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Panama and Peru.

Arch Communications Group Inc. said it formed a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro Inc., a wholesale provider of technology products and services. The agreement, Ingram Micro’s first with a wireless messaging company, calls for Arch to host seminars to train Ingram Micro’s sales force in both using and selling messaging services.

P-Com Inc., a wireless access systems provider, received an initial order for its AirPro and AirLink equipment from a data service provider in Brazil. The initial $1.5 million order is scheduled for delivery this year.

NOVA Corp., a payment processing company, said it has become an official reseller of BellSouth Wireless Data L.P.’s Intelligent Wireless Network. NOVA said it will resell the network to its merchant customers as a means of offering them a wireless point-of-sale solution, integrating BSWD’s network with a portable terminal and wireless modem.
