SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Mobilink Telecom Inc. said it completed full type-approval testing for a handset compliant with the Global System for Mobile communications standard.
The handset was proven to adhere to the dual-band GSM 900 and GSM 1800 Phase 2 standards, and was designed by Mobilink for GVC Corp. in Taipei, Taiwan.
“This is the first time a single-chip baseband design has passed through FTA,” said George Burgess, vice president of systems engineering, Mobilink. “Using this type-approved handset solution will enable our customers to focus on handset differentiation rather than the rigors of phone design.”
The handset was designed around the Mobilink ML2000B, a type-approved, single-chip baseband solution that offers system integration, performance and features, said the company.
