ATLANTA-LHS Group Inc., an Atlanta-based provider of operations support systems, and Alcatel, a Paris-based network infrastructure supplier, have signed a memorandum of understanding to pursue wireless and wireline opportunities in the People’s Republic of China.
The companies, which already have a global partnership agreement, said they will assemble a group of employees who will be headquartered in Alcatel’s Shanghai facilities. The team will be dedicated to addressing telecommunications billing and customer care opportunities.
“The mainland China market has tremendous growth potential … But given the complexity of this market, LHS could not address it without a strong player like Alcatel, which already has a strong presence in China and several joint ventures with Chinese companies,” said Per Axelsson, senior vice president of global partner sales for LHS.
