NATICK, Mass.-edocs Inc., a provider of Internet billing and customer management software and services, introduced a bill presentment and payment distribution module for Palm Inc.’s Palm VII handheld computer, allowing the delivery of bills, statements, trade confirms and other transactional documents to the device via the wireless Palm.Net service.
According to edocs, users can connect to the Internet via the wireless Palm.Net service to view the company’s Web-enabled bill or statement and initiate payment or access other customer care services not available in a traditional print bill or statement.
“The announcement comes as industry thought leaders and cutting-edge technology companies are declaring wireless devices like the Palm VII handheld, [personal digital assistants] and mobile phones increasingly important vehicles for Internet access,” said Paul Hughes, research director for The Yankee Group. “The growing consumer base for Palm VII devices is particularly well positioned to leverage the customer care and convenience advantages of reviewing and paying bills and statements wirelessly.”
