Motorola next-generation DSP now available

AUSTIN, Texas-Motorola Inc. announced its DSP56311 digital signal processor is now available in production volumes, allowing companies to build next-generation networking infrastructure systems for wireless communications and Internet Protocol telephony applications.

According to the company, the DSP56311 includes 128K 24-bit words of integrated static random access memory, eliminating the need for external memory devices. The new processor is also code and footprint compatible with other 56300 devices, preserving the investment in legacy code and hardware board design.

“This allows our customers to offer an expanded set of system features without significant system redesign and a faster time to market advantage over competing solutions,” noted Dave Baczewski, strategic marketing manager for Motorola Wireless Infrastructure Systems Division.
