China Unicom plans IPO

HONG KONG-China Unicom Ltd., China’s No. 2 telecommunications operator, will make an initial public offering and listing of 25 percent of the company’s enlarged capital on the Hong Kong and New York stock exchanges in June, according to Reuters.

The company plans to raise approximately $5 billion, which would be the largest IPO launched by a mainland Chinese company, merchant banking sources reported, surpassing China Telecom’s $4.2 billion offering and PetroChina Ltd.’s $3.1 billion offering.
