MIC launches fixed wireless service in Argentina

NEW YORK-Millicom International Cellular S.A. said its Argentine subsidiary launched the first phase of its service rollout in the Buenos Aires area. Millicom Argentina also will provide wireless Internet services to the country’s most populated cities-Cordoba, Vendozo, Rosario and Tucuman-during 2000.

The fixed wireless network initially will offer speeds of up to 2 Megabits per second, MIC said. Internet and intranet services, allowing users to receive voice, data, audio, video or fax communications, are the two main applications offered. Users pay a monthly subscription fee in addition to a fee for actual data transfer time.
