WOODBURY, N.Y.-Comverse Network Systems, a supplier of software and systems for network-based enhanced services, won a contract from Guangdong Mobile Communications Co. Ltd. to provide its mobile data systems enabling wireless Internet applications in 10 cities across the Chinese province.
Under the contract, Comverse will provide voice-mail notification, mobile-originated short messages and information-on-demand applications-such as mobile banking, stock transactions, weather information and flight schedules-to GMCC customers.
“China’s mobile users are looking for value-added services that will provide integration between telecommunications and the Internet,” said Itsik Danziger, president of Comverse Network Systems. “GMCC is both an Internet service provider and an Internet content provider. These integrated services enhance customer loyalty.”
Financial details of the contract were not released.
