Motorola inks deal to use Transcrypt’s LTR technology

LINCOLN, Neb.-Transcrypt International Inc.’s EF Johnson subsidiary signed a licensing agreement giving Motorola Inc. the right to develop and sell mobile and portable radio products incorporating the EF Johnson-developed Logic Trunked Radio-Net protocol.

According to Transcrypt, the LTR-Net technology allows radio sites to be networked through a switch allowing access across wide geographic areas. The technology is also backward compatible with LTR radios in use today.

“Motorola is pleased to have this agreement,” said Dennis Dibos, director of business development for the North America Group at Motorola. “While we do not offer LTR-Net at this time, this agreement provides us with potentially valuable options for the future.”
